| Do I need a building permit? Not always, it depends on your city. We will assist you in this process. You are responsible to check with your city on the permit requirements. If your city does not require a permit, you still need to adhere by the city/neighborhood code, setbacks, and easements. If we come out to build the shed and the site does not meet the guidelines you will be charged a $75 fee and we will reschedule when you have found a proper site location. If we start to build the shed and find that your site is not within the requirements you are responsible for the entire price of the shed whether it can be built there or not. We will provide you with the plans you will need to submit the permit, but you are responsible for submitting the application to your city. How do I know if the area I've chosen is suitable for the placement of my new storage shed? Your new building can be built right on the existing grade of most backyards. The pressure treated skids that rest under the building are engineered for direct ground contact. Any place where the grade slopes no more than 6", and is 2' from any trees, fences, and overhanging limbs is suitable. If your site is extremely soft or slopes more than 6" in the area you've selected, you should probably fill the low areas with crushed rock. Proper site prep usually insures less problems down the road. We level the skids under the building up to 6" with treated lumber and wedges. The site preparation is the customers responsibility. Do I need to be home when my new shed is being built? No, you don't have to be home, but we do require the 4 corners of the building site to be marked, and access to an electrical outlet. What kind of paint or stain can I put on my new shed? When painting your shed, a primer is needed for only the door trim. The Smart Panel siding and trim is factory primed and ready for 100% Acrylic Flat Latex exterior paint. All Shed Shop buildings are caulked in and around the door areas and corner trim. The Smart Panel siding will not accept stain. Will my lawn tractor or 4-wheeler damage the flooring on my shed? Not at all, all Shed Shop buildings feature 5/8" treated plywood, set on floor joists that are spaced 1' on center, plus an aluminum door threshold that protects the edge of the plywood from being damaged when moving equipment in and out. How soon after I order a shed, can I expect it to be built? When you order your new shed you will be given a building date over the phone usually within one business day. Depending on the time of year and the size/customization of your building we are 2-6 weeks out on build dates. Is there a delivery charge to our area? All sheds outside a 50 mile radius of zipcode 55125, are subject to a delivery charge. Does my shed come with a guarantee? Every Shed Shop building has a lifetime guarantee on all workmanship. If you EVER have a problem just pick up the phone and give us a call! Every Shed Shop building comes with a 2 year guarantee on all components and a manufacturers 50yr Siding & Trim warranty and 30 yr Shingle warranty. How does payment work? Payment is due on your build date. We accept cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover. Cash or check can be given to the builder on site. If you are not going to be home other payment arrangements must be made. Credit cards can be taken over the phone by calling us at 651-738-7433 before 5pm the day before your build date. We do not offer payment plans at this time. |
